It's about time to make your team Wiki! Here is a link to a template and an example:
You are encouraged to be as creative as you want with your site and represent your team and game however you think is best (and appropriate). There are some requirements that we want to lay out, which are:
A homepage that houses a clear explanation/pitch of your game
A gallery of screenshots, art, or other images from your game (part of weekly requirements)
Your blog (part of weekly requirements)
Your GDD and/or VDD
Some of these are not complete right now, of course, and that's fine! You'll update this throughout the program. Think of it as an external hub for your team/game; your coach, a stakeholder, a mentor, a community member, or other outside person should be able to look through your site and get a good sense of your game and your experience developing it.
While Sites is a pretty barebones website building tool, it’s also one of the easiest tools I’ve ever used to make a site. It’s very user friendly and it’s pretty hard to make it look bad (see my example team site). The trade-off is that it’s fairly limited in how you can customize it. If your team has a strong desire to customize further, you’re welcome to create a site elsewhere (such as GitHub Pages) where you can code it yourself or another template site, but this is a great option to make this process quick and easy and allow your team to spend more time on your game. Plus, on Sites we can give you your own site URL on the radmagpie.org domain (just like we use radstudio.radmagpie.org, your site could be [name of your game].radmagpie.org).
Some Google Sites tips:
On the right menu bar, select “Pages” to see all of the pages you have created.
Hit the three dots on any page and select “Hide from navigation” to, well… hide it.
You have to hit “Publish” whenever you make changes, which can make it way easier to control what you have posted and finalize what you have before you post it. If you publish a page that's hidden from navigation and you don't link to it elsewhere on your site, your page is effectively hidden from view (unless someone has the direct link to that page). This is useful for starting drafts of pages you're not ready to post.
If you’re having trouble adding a new text or other media box into an existing section on a page (such as trying to do in-line text with an image), try double-clicking the section.
I definitely ran into this problem before I figured this out, so if you’re like “duh that’s obvious” you’re ahead of me LOL -Zynab
It’s incredibly easy to add most Google files/links, but other media may be trickier. Play around with Sites and see what you can come up with!
If you have other issues, a Google search is your best friend.
If you have any more tips to add, share it in the Discord or message Zynab to add it here.
